What works in the movie is the soundtrack. The gigantic car, the fire hydrant or railway sleepers when shown in close-up (for some strange reason there are very few long shots) make your brain bend over backwards trying to get a handle on human cats among gigantic props. It is also thanks to the human bodies that the scale does not work. I am sure Eliot at the height of his surrealist self would not have imagined such a vision for his poems - those were definitely not pearls that were his eyes. And so when they meeow and purr or do cat stuff like rub their heads, it comes across as plain weird. They are half-cat and half-human with human bodies and hands and feet instead of paws and claws. This is also one of the first times I collaborated with our good friend, the amazingly talented artist/ writer Andrew Gabbard.”Īccompanying the song release, King released a moody live video, created at Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound Studio, it features acclaimed musicians including Chris St. “This song is a literal cry for help, one of the least metaphorical tracks on the record and a memory that’s difficult to relive each night but is important to remember. “‘Rescue Me’ cuts a little deeper than the rest for me,” Marcus stated. King’s tales of excess, salvation, breakups and addiction put hard times in the rear view mirror, redefining the path to modern rock stardom.
